Utterances are sentences used by users during a conversation with a chatbot or virtual assistant. In other words, utterances are the different variations of sentences that users might use to ask a question.
Utterances are important for chatbot training because they help the artificial intelligence system understand how users express themselves and what their intentions are. The chatbot then uses this information to elaborate an appropriate response that is consistent with the user’s request.
For this reason, it is important to collect a wide range of utterances during the set up of the knowledge base of the chatbot, in order to make the AI system able to understand and effectively respond to users’ requests in a natural and fluid way.
